How to Use Our Online Application System

The online application form can be used to apply for different types of membership (the membership types are explained in our introduction to joining DPS). The three most common scenarios are explained here:

Scenario A: Applying for individual membership
Scenario B: Applying for Joint or Junior membership via an existing member
Scenario C: Applying for membership with your spouse/partner and/or a Junior

Scenario A: Applying for individual membership

  1. Fill in the online form with Individual (the default) or Non-Resident as your membership type.
  2. When your form is complete click on the Submit Application button (near the bottom of the page). Your application is not submitted until you have done this.
  3. If you selected online payment then you are taken to our PayPal page. After paying online please use the link that PayPal provides to return to this Web site so we can verify your payment. This saves time by avoiding the need for manual payment verification.
  4. Finally you see a confirmation page which includes your provisional Member #...please write it down (and include it with your payment if paying by check/cash).

Once your payment is verified your application will be approved and Fred Rosenberg, our current membership chair, will contact you to confirm your member # and your login credentials for our members-only website.

Scenario B: Applying for Joint or Junior membership via an existing member

Follow the same procedure as for an Individual member but select Joint or Junior as your membership type. When you do this the form changes slightly:

  • You are asked for the Member # of the existing member that has agreed to sponsor you.
  • For a Junior member you will also be asked for a date of birth.
  • The address is no longer editable. Our bylaws require that Joint members are resident at the same address as their Sponsor; and that the Sponsor's  address is the address of record for Junior members.

Just complete the re-arranged form and proceed as in step 2 of individual membership.

Note: If you have your sponsoring member complete the application via the members-only website it may save some time. The consent of the existing member is implicit if they apply, otherwise our Membership Chair will have to contact them to confirm consent before approving your application. Thank you for your understanding.

Scenario C: Applying for membership with your spouse/partner and/or a Junior

You need to do this in stages...one application form for each person.

It is important that the first application is for the person who will become the sponsor of the other Joint and/or Junior member(s).

  1. Complete the first application as an individual member (scenario A above) noting your provisional member # on the confirmation page.
  2. Complete your remaining applications as in scenario B but use your provisional member # as the "existing" member.
